Limited Edition Custom Handmade Frames With Canvas Print

This year, I decided to give myself a project.

The majority of my photographs focus on beach, nature, landscape, street and underwater. Taking advantage of the city of Miami, Florida and capturing the essence of the this paradise I call home, the beaches, the streets and its people through photographs is something that I have been doing for years. I wanted to really pursue my passion with photography this year so I decided I would take a big step and finally try to sell my photographs on prints and canvases - but I wanted to be different. I wanted to add something that would make me stand out from everyone out there selling their prints, canvas, etc. I decided I was going to try to channel the inner artist in me and incorporate artwork into my photography. I figured, what better way to really express myself with my photos than to add some art into it?!

To me, this is a pretty big deal as I am taking a risk to do something I love. I have always been passionate and had a certain sentiment in photography since I was young. I love the feeling of watching people react to my photos - whether good or bad - and just knowing that the photo stirred a certain type of emotion in someone to get a reaction. A photo can harness so many different types of emotions and feelings and by adding these custom handmade frames to my carefully selected canvas prints, I hope to add even more emotions and value to that. I have never really looked at myself as an artist, yet here I am making art. In life you have to push the boundaries - always. The things you thought you could not do or would not do are the things you should push yourself to try to do. What is the worst that can happen? You fail or you succeed. If you fail, you take notes and see what caused you to get to that point and you learn, make corrections and try again. If you succeed, then the sky's the limit and no one can stop you but yourself.

With this project, I am crossing those boundaries and doing something I never thought I would be doing. I present to you my very own handmade artwork - a mix of photography and art through my eyes and the way I envision my photographs to invoke a certain feeling or emotion. It is a unique mix of color and life being captured, all rolled up into an artistic package. I will personally be designing and making only one of each and every frame and handpicking the canvas to go with it. These will be dated, numbered, and signed by me as well and considered a J Porro Photography collectors' item. They will most definitely be unique and limited edition items as the frames were handmade at a time where I felt most inspired and had a certain vision in my mind of how it will go with the chosen canvas print perfectly. As time goes on, so will my collection grow - so always be expecting something new!
